Behind the lens: Our luck was running out, and our hope of seeing a big cat was fading that evening. We had heard of a cheetah family being spotted that morning, but we had no sign of them. Our phenomenal driver had an instinctive push to return to that area in hopes of spotting the cheetah and her young son. To our surprise, laying in the open was the stunning young male and his mother - staring right at me.
